Our study guide for A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

I’ll admit, I was a little wary of the idea of doing a study guide for A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens with my kids. Yeah, yeah…it’s Dickens. It’s a classic. There’s a million adaptations. Even a Muppets version, after all.

But then I went back and re-read the short story as an adult, and I fell in love with the nostalgia and whimsy and, of course, the spirit of Christmas that pervades Dickens’ writing.

If you’re a homeschool family, I highly suggest reading through this story story during the Christmas season together. To help, I’ve written a study guide for A Christmas Carol that includes the complete text of the story along with leveled discussion questions for various ages, writing prompts, copy work, and even Victorian recipes and instructions for playing some of the games (like, Blindman’s Bluff) mentioned in the story.

How about some figgy pudding and spiced tea while you read?
