We tried the brand-spanking-new ceramic cookware from Ninja

I had an opportunity this week to try out the brand-spanking-new ceramic cookware set from Ninja. I’ve always been a lifelong, die-hard All Clad fan—and still am—so I was skeptical. I received my All Clad stainless cookware at my wedding 26 years ago, and it still looks and cooks as well as it did when I received them. But I have to say, I was quite impressed with this ceramic set from Ninja.

I wouldn’t say I have an eco-friendly kitchen, but I’ve drawn a line at non-stick pans because of the toxic load. But I’ve been curious to try ceramic pans because generally their coating is free of harmful chemicals (Ninja’s falls in this category), but you still get all the benefits of that smooth, non-stick surface. (This is especially helpful if you’re trying to cut back on butter and oils in your cooking.)

I made an orzo dish with sage chicken meatballs. I dropped the butter in the pan and watched it slick around so easily, it even browned a bit without burning (a miracle considering my crappy electric range). My sage leaves crisped up nicely, the orzo cooked through without a single piece sticking to the pan, and it cleaned up without a single effortful scrub.

These pieces are going to be in my regular rotation. And even though it says the finish is scratch resistant to metal utensils, heaven help any family member who uses one on these. I want to keep them this perfect for the next 26 years, just like my All Clad.
